On January 15th, McNeil Consumer Healthcare issued a voluntary recall of several of their over-the-counter products, including Tylenol©, Motrin©, Benadryl©, Rolaids©, Simply Sleep© and St. Joseph’s© brand products. This recall is the result of reports from consumers of a musty odor with the listed products, which was associated with temporary and non-serious side effects, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain. McNeil is currently investigating the cause, thought to be due to a chemical called TBA that is applied to the wooden pallets used to transport and store packaged products. Only certain lots of these brands are being recalled, so consumers should call McNeil Consumer Healthcare at 1.888.222.6036 or visit www.mcneilproductrecall.com to determine whether or not their recently-purchased product has been recalled. The lot number can be found on the side of the product’s label. If consumers are in possession of an affected product, they should stop using it immediately and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare for a refund or replacement.
